Amid another insipid Cricket West Indies President’s XI’s batting display against England, Sunil Ambris fashioned an innings of substance that could revive his international career.
The 25-year-old Vincentian hammered 11 fours and a six in a three-hour knock of 94 off 131 balls as the second two-day practice match ended in a dull draw at the 3Ws Oval, yesterday.
Unlike the first two-day match when the President’s XI lost 19 wickets for 203 runs, the West Indies reserves gave an improved but still unsatisfactory batting display as apart from Ambris, no other batsman reached 25.
They were bowled out for 202 in 60.5 overs just after tea, in response to England’s first-day total of 379 and after play continued for another 40 minutes, they rallied to 233-11 in 73 overs while losing another wicket.
Devon Thomas (10 not out) and Vishaul Singh (14 not out)got a second chance to bat before the match was called off. (EZS)
