Government’s town planning department could be among four entities to face legal action for the deaths of the Codrington family in the August 26, 2007 apartment building collapse at Arch Cot, Brittons Hill, St Michael.
After Coroner Faith Marshall-Harris handed down her verdict yesterday, attorney-at-law David Comissiong, who along with attorney Kristin Edwards is representing the family of the deceased, said he would be taking the matter to the High Court seeking damages.
“Based on a number of the findings of fact made by the Coroner in the process of arriving at her decision and our own assessment of the facts that came out during the inquest, we have come to the conclusion that we will be preferring civil charges against a number of entities,” Comissiong said.
“There are at least four targets that we are considering for legal action, four persons or entities that clearly whose actions did not come up to the standard that is required of them,” he added.
