BARBADOS and Trinidad and Tobago are locked in a fascinating duel for first innings honours.
When stumps were drawn at the end of an enthralling third day’s play in their WICB four-day match at Guaracara Park on Sunday, Trinidad and Tobago were 390 for nine, replying to Barbados’ 395.
On a day in which the pendulum swung one way then the next, Barbados reduced their opponents to 131 for five in the pre-lunch session before Trinidad and Tobago staged a gallant fightback to the delight of their hometown fans.
Kevin Stoute grabbed two wickets in the morning period and Tino Best also claimed a double-strike before the hosts clawed their way back into the contest through the efforts of captain Denesh Ramdin and all-rounder Rayad Emrit.
Ramdin made 86, while Emrit contributed an unbeaten 82 to frustrate Barbados who didn’t help their cause by missing no fewer than five chances.
Runako Morton’s 86 was the mainstay of Trinidad and Tobago’s early effort while Imran Khan hit 49 in helping to start the recovery by adding 100 for the sixth wicket with Ramdin. (HG)
