Lindsay thrills at Diaspora Arts Fest

THE INTERNATIONAL Diaspora Arts Festival opened this evening with a scintillating musical exposition by jazz singer Marisa Lindsay and the 1688 Orchestra at the Errol Barrow Centre For Creative Imagination, Cave Hill St Michael.
The invited guests were treated to some exciting improvised arrangements from the orchestra led by Stefan Walcott before Lindsay made her appearance in what was billed as Twilight Jazz.
Lindsay in her session stamped her authority on Waiting In Vain by Bob Marley; a medley of Aretha Franklyn’s hits  and Knock on Wood by Eddie Floyd and Steve Cropper.
The festival continues next Tuesday with Cosy Corner: Pay Back “Live Talk Back” sessions at Walcott Warner Theatre and the Film Festival on Thursday, both events starting at 7 p.m.  (JS)
