A BRILLIANT UNBEATEN 125by Barbados wicketkeeper/batsman Shane Dowridge, aided by a polished 92 from captain Rolston Chase, guided the Guardian General Barbados Youth to safety against Carlton.Dowridge’s century came in 201 minutes off 126 deliveries and was laced with 15 fours and one six. He shared in a 160-run fourth-wicket partnership with Chase that saw the Youth erasing the target. The Youth resumed on nine without loss, with their leading batsman Kraigg Brathwaite not out on five. Brathwaite, however, did not take any further part in the match as he was called to West Indies “A” team duties. He was replaced by Shane Parris, who fell quickly for one while Kyle Mayers and Clint St Hill also fell cheaply as the Youth found themselves reeling at 44 for 3 before the Chase-Dowridge partnership took root. After Chase fell, caught by the keeper essaying a flat-footed drive off Amal Nurse, Dowridge and Mario Rampersaud added a further 59 runs to seal a draw for their side in a match in which both teams played with 12 players. Carlton replaced Dale Richards, who was called up for senior West Indies duties, by pacer DaWayne Sealy.
