Mass casualty in St George

A minibus overturned earlier today along a section of the Pinders Bottom Main Road in St George injuring 37 people – five of them critically.
The accident occurred shortly after 3 p.m.
All the injured were adults.
According to a statement from the Hospital “the majority of persons received injuries to their extremities, head, chest and abdomen including fractures, lacerations and trauma. One person was sent to surgery and is currently in recovery room”.
Five ambulances from the Emergency Ambulance Service, two from the Sparman Clinic and one from the Barbados Defence Force reported to the scene.
Scores of members from the Barbados Defence Force (BDF), the Royal Barbados Police Force and the Barbados Fire Service joined health professionals in the mass casualty situation, assisting the injured before sending them off to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) and others to the Winston Scott Polyclinic.
