Van ploughs through house

It was a close call for a young St George mother when a van, crashed into her mother’s house at Windsor Road yesterday.
Shanice Agard was crossing over from her uncle’s house to her mother’s with a baby boy to get something to eat when the vehicle ended up in the front room.
Shanice’s uncle Andrew McIntosh was standing outside and witnessed the incident around 10 a.m.
The impact shifted the entire house and caused major damage to its contents. The house was occupied by his sister Corlene Agard and her husband Kevin.
McIntosh said it was a blessing that Kevin had gone off to work.
The van crashed into the side of the house where he usually sat to watch television.
Corlene said she got a call from her daughter telling her about the accident, but she only realised the gravity of it when she got to the scene. She was just thankful that no one was hurt.
The vehicle was driven by 34-year-old Geoffrey Oliver, who was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance. He complained for pain to the right shoulder.
