Trust grants QEH’s wish

THE?PAEDIATRIC?Department of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital received items on its “wish list” yesterday through the donation of a number of pieces of equipment from the Maria Holder Memorial Trust.
The equipment was described as “items that were desperately required by doctors and nurses in order to offer a level of care and support to the sick and critically ill children and infants” who were admitted to the department throughout the year.
The items would also help in effecting professional state-of-the-art care.
At the presentation it was disclosed in a release that the equipment was badly needed by the department but it was becoming increasingly difficult to maintain the requisite level of commitment to the kind of care required based solely on donations and covenants from the public and corporate Barbados.
“The department approached [the trust] in the hope that [it] could help them with this burden of expense. The board of directors resolved to donate US$69 250 towards the purchase of essential equipment needed,” the release stated. (JS)
