THE NATIONAL UNION of Public Workers (NUPW) is calling on government to revoke the dismissal letters handed out this morning to workers at the National Conservation Commission (NCC).
General secretary Dennis Clarke said they should honour the Cabinet decision to operate on a “first in, last out” policy in relation to retrenchment and this was not done in the case of NCC.
He made the call this evening during a media conference at the NUPW’s Dalkeith headquarters.
Clarke said failing this, the NUPW would launch a three-pronged attack which included going to the Board, taking their grievances before the Labour Office or the International Labour Organisation, if the other steps failed.
He said the NUPW has not ruled out the possibility of strike action, but it would be done on their terms.
