Major?Crop Over entities are lauding the decision by Government to go back to the original day for the staging of the popular Foreday Morning jam.
After?a mixed reaction from some quarters to the shifting of the event from the traditional Friday night after the Pic-O-De-Crop finals to the Saturday, Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley, in a surprise announcement yesterday, said Foreday Morning would return to the status quo.
In a Press briefing outside his Haggatt Hall, St Michael offices, the minister smoothed over the sudden u-turn implying that the itinerary for Crop Over can be tweaked without compromising the festival.
“We have had some consultations and those [talks] have convinced us that we should look again at the decision of having the Foreday Morning on the Saturday.
“As a result of those concerns that were raised, what we will do this year, we will go back to the status quo which means that Foreday Morning returns to the Friday and Finals will also be held on the Friday [at Kensington].”
