MUSIC BLARED, PEOPLE STARED.
The Virgin Atlantic Diamond Jubilee Street Party parade got off with a bang in St Lawrence Gap, Christ Church, yesterday.
There was plenty to stare at too – from an authentic Mini Cooper to somewhat less authentic depictions of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince William, and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.
But no one was more popular than the two British “traffic wardens” Tom and Colin Jones.
The pair led the procession, posing for photos and generally “acting the fool” to the delight of the crowd. They even handed out reprimands to vehicles and people they deemed to be in violation of their “regulations”.
Virgin Atlantic’s marketing and public relations executive Beverley Layne said the event came off better than expected, adding it was wonderful to see locals, tourists and expatriates mingling and enjoying themselves. (CA)
