After years of agitation on their behalf, temporary teachers may soon be getting their appointments.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that about 300 teachers who have been in the system for more than two years are in line to be appointed.
The issue of teacher appointments resurfaced as recently as last Friday when president of the Barbados Secondary Teachers’ Union (BSTU), Mary Redman, spoke about it during her address to members at the annual Grace Thompson Memorial Teachers’ Professional Day Seminar at Solidarity House.
She said the BSTU wanted the backlog of long overdue appointments to the teaching service to be “acted upon with dispatch”.
