THE NO-CONFIDENCE motion against Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler was defeated 15-14 moments ago in the House of Assembly.
When deputy clerk of parliament Nigel Jones polled those present, all members of the Democratic Labour Party rose in support of embattled Sinckler, while those from the Barbados Labour Party voted against him.
Speaker of the House Michael Carrington was exempt from voting.
Opposition Leader Mia Mottley brought the motion against Sinckler, citing a lack of competence. It stated he lacked judgement, breached the law and was taking the country on a collision course.
She concluded that the House should condemn the Minister, repose no confidence in him, and called on Prime Minister Freundel Stuart to relieve him of his finance and economic affairs portfolio.
