Twenty-nine-year-old Jamaican Voltan Samuda was remanded and will reappear in court later this month in connection with the death of Carlene Stuart last Wednesday on the Ronald Mapp Highway.
When he appeared in District A Magistrates Court today, Samuda was remanded and is scheduled to appear in District E/Holetown Magistrates Court on November 19.
Samuda, of Kingsland Gardens, Christ Church, is reported to have been the driver of the white vehicle which was involved in the accident at Blowers Road, St James.
He has been charged with ‘causing death by dangerous driving’. Last Wednesday Stuart, 65, an employee of the Ministry of Transport and Works, was weeding along that section of the highway when she was struck and killed.
Police are still trying to locate the other occupant of the vehicle who fled the scene of the accident. (PR)
