So sorry, says BWA

THE Barbados Water Authority (BWA) went into damage control mode on Thursday following a three-day water outage to some parts of Grazettes St Michael.
Public relations officer Joy-Ann Haigh visited some of the affected residents to personally apologize to them on behalf of the BWA.
Haigh told the SATURDAY SUN that due to a breakdown in communication, residents were without water for three days and no tankers were dispatched to provide them with the precious commodity, leading to many of them going on the call-in programmes to angrily vent about the situation.
Pointing out that the outage was due to air locks in the mains leading to the reservoir which restricted the flow of water to households, Haigh said: “Unfortunately there was a breakdown in communication that led to an unnecessary delay in our response.
I went to some of the areas this morning to personally apologise for the inconvenience and to explain to them why the problem occurred.
“What happened was an isolated situation which fell through the cracks because the BWA usually responds right away to water outages”.
She said the problem had been resolved and water restored fully to the areas on Thursday. (MB)
