CASTRIES- Prime Minister Stephenson King today said that his administration would not allow a “few selfish and devious minds” to dictate the lifestyle of the country and to negatively impact the image of St. Lucia.
“The police have been directed to undertake whatever actions are necessary to bring the situation back under control and to take back the streets from criminal elements.
“I have reassured them that they had the full backing of government to pursue criminals wherever they were,” King said.
On Monday, the Ministerial Task Force on Crime and Security which also includes the senior management of the Royal St. Lucia Police Force, gathered for an emergency meeting to review a weekend of crime and violence in which two men were shot and killed.
King said while citizens were engaged in rebuilding the island following the passage of Hurricane Tomas in late October, there were a few elements bent on perpetuating lawlessness in order to serve their selfish motives.
He warned that the government is determined to deal with them with bold and deliberate actions. King stressed that the reputation and respect of the country must be preserved at all cost, and government is assuring all peace loving St. Lucians that it will “deal with all threats to our nation’s security and stability in a decisive and determined manner.
