THE?CONTROVERSIAL Warrens Roundabout was the source of heated debate in the House of Assembly yesterday, with Government describing it as a positive part of its traffic safety improvement plan and the Opposition calling it a reflection of the current chaos and confusion on the roads.
Speaking during the passage of a $20 million resolution to supplement the Estimates, specifically road network improvement projects, Minister of Public Works and Transport John Boyce said a reduction of “incidents” was now being seen at the Warrens Roundabout.
However, he reminded road users that roundabouts were merely rotary traffic intersections which, like all junctions, were dangerous and should be approached cautiously.
Noting that the roundabout in question was part of the $46 million Warrens Traffic Improvement Project, Boyce said Government was aiming to conclude this and other projects, including Boarded Hall Roundabout, Bowmanston and Clifton Hall in St John; Padmore Village in St Philip; Deighton Griffith School to Aberdeen Corner in Christ Church; and Maycocks to Colleton in St Lucy by the end of the financial year (March 31).
