Brooks’ mission

Captain Shamarh Brooks will be on a dual mission on Thursday when Barbados Pride oppose the Leeward Islands Hurricanes at the 3Ws Oval in their pink ball, day-night cricket match to usher in the new 2018-2019 Regional 4-Day  Championship.

Overlooked for the recent Test tours of India and Bangladesh despite his consistently good showing for Barbados Pride over the last four years and the Windies “A” team on the last tour of England, Brooks will be hoping to send an early message to the West Indies’ selectors ahead of next year’s England tour of the Caribbean.

The stylish right-handed stroke-maker will also want to ensure Barbados Pride revenge the humiliating two-day innings and four runs loss to the Leewards’ outfit at Kensington Oval, last year.

Since his debut in 2007, the 30-year-old Brooks has amassed 3 236 runs from 64 first-class matches at an average of 34.42 with five hundreds and 19 half-centuries. Despite missing two matches in the 2017-18 championship, he was the fourth highest run-scorer with an aggregate of 632 runs at an average of 48.61. (EZS)
