Springer U-13 netball queens

Ice cold shooting by Queen’s College saw Springer Memorial freezing the Husbands girls 8-7 and taking their crown yesterday in the Barbados Secondary Schools’ Netball League Under-13 final  at the Netball Stadium.
While goal shooter Alanis  King shot seven goals from ten attempts and Rashida Quintyne added her only shot for Springer Memorial, the normally accurate Queen’s College shooter Niara Forde missed ten of her 17 shots.  
Alysa Martin did not help the cause by missing her one shot.
The tall stature and long reach  of Springer’s Tricia Phillips  and MVP Sierra Coward intimidated and pressured Queen’s College into passing away the ball.  
Furthermore, strong defence  on the dangerous Forde saw her attempting too many distant  and impossible shots, thus losing the chance of taking and building  a lead.
While Felicia Miller, Britney Hurdle and Tiffany Lovell were  in fine form for Springer, Britney Small and Janina Mayers were superb in intercepting and controlling the passes for Queen’s College.  Unfortunately, too many balls went into the shooting circle which were never converted.
Earlier in the evening, Coleridge and Parry took the third spot with a 14-7 victory  over Lester Vaughan.  
Springer and Queen’s College will meet in next Tuesday’s Under-15 final after Queen’s College stopped Graydon Sealy 36-26 and Springer destroyed Lester Vaughan 39-13  with a whopping 31 goals  coming from Shakeilla Smith. (KB)
