SOCA ARTISTE MIKARD whose song Fatpork has been rocking the airwaves and YouTube this Crop Over season, is in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
The 42-year-old former police officer is in Ward C5 following tests which revealed symptoms akin  to multiple sclerosis.
“His hands are real numb and his body is weak,”  a relative told the WEEKEND NATION yesterday. She added that Mikard, whose real name  is Valman Thompson, might also have  suffered slight brain damage.
Mikard, whose song was the season’s first airwave casualty after it received no airplay on CBC Radio weeks after being officially released, has been welcomed by crowds at the Cavalcades  with his Fatpork.
He has been singing since 1986, joining Cultural Vibrations tent before competing in the annual Police calypso competition and entering last year’s  Party Monarch contest with Not A Fork In Dey.
He came out of the Royal Barbados Police Force medically unfit last year. (RJ)
