Tackling child neglect

THE Child Care Board will be working closely with UNICEF to produce public service announcements and pamphlets to help stamp out neglect of children, which is one of its  major concerns.
According to the board’s director Joan Crawford, neglect was the subject  of a study done between 2011 and 2012.
Crawford was speaking to the media yesterday  at the United States Embassy, Wildey,  St Michael, after the You’re A Star, Stella workbook, which focuses on coping with domestic violence, was launched.
She said that depending on the severity of the neglect or the injury to the child or the risk, a report could be made to the Royal Barbados Police Force to investigate because the board could not charge an individual. (AH)
