THIRTY-ONE PLAYERS have been invited to training and practice sessions by the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) in preparation for this year’s TCL Group West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Under-19 Competition.
It will be held in St Lucia from July 6 to August 5. Jamaica are the defending champions in both the three-day and One-Day version.
The sessions will be conducted weekly Tuesday to Thursday at Harrison College until the team is selected.
Heading the list of invitees are the four West Indies Under-19 players, who participated in the ICC Youth World Cup earlier this year in New Zealand.
They are opening batsmen Kraigg Brathwaite who is in England with the West Indies “A” team, wicket-keeper/batsman Shane Dowrich, left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican and fast-bowling all- rounder Jason Holder.
Also returning from last year’s team in Jamaica are Roston Chase, Marques Clarke, Dario Cummins, Kyle Mayers, Mario Rampersaud, and Anthony Alleyne.
Surprisingly, three members of the Under-15 team who represented Barbados at the regional tournament in Trinidad and Tobago last March have also been chosen. They are captain Jameel Stuart who made 167 runs, Jonathan Drakes, 101 runs, and fast-bowler Jerome Jones, who took three wickets.
While they have been chosen, no room was found for Chaim Holder, Marlon Welcome-Goodman, Kyle Franklin, Aaron Burke, Stefan Cumberbatch and Shane Jones.
The full squad: Anthony Alleyne, Brandon Best, Kemar Brathwaite, Kraigg Brathwaite, Neil Browne, Roston Chase, Marques Clarke, Dario Cummins, Rico Depezia, Shane Dowrich, Jonathan Drakes, Kevin Earle, Dylan Grace, Justin Greaves, Darnell Greenidge, Ricardo Harewood, Jason Holder, Shai Hope, Jerome Jones, Jalani Joseph, Tevin Lowe, Dario Marshall, Kyle Mayers, Shane Parris, Ravendra Persaud, Mario Rampersaud, Daniel Rogers, Clint St Hill, Jameel Stuart, Jomel Warrican, Shakeem Wilkinson.
