Let the Lenten season be a time of prayer.
This call came from Monsignor Vincent Blackett of the St Patrick Roman Catholic Church earlier today as the St Patrick Roman Catholic church held its midday Ash Wednesday service marking the beginning of Lent.
He asked the congregation to offer special prayer for the country as it goes through a time of selecting government that will lead it. Also, for the Roman Catholic Church as it also goes through a period of change of leadership.
Monsignor Blackett  urged those presenting themselves as candidates in the February 21 General Election, to take on the task diligently and guided by the Holy Spirit so that with the help of God that Barbados continues to be a stable country.
Speaking to the audience which included candidates Patrick Todd, Cynthia Forde, Mia Mottley and Dr Maria Agard, he also told them to keep the Lenten season holy.
“Campaign yes, but keep the campaign clean,” Monsignor Vincent said.
He also called on the congregation to offer prayer for the Catholic Church as it goes through the period of angst following the announcement of the resignation of Leader of the Roman Catholic Church Pope Benedict XVI. (LK)
