The region is challenged for more research, says Minister of Education and Human Resource Development Ronald Jones, as he called on researchers to get moving.
He was addressing a room of professors, researchers, scholars and awardees during the opening of Research Week at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill Campus today.
Speaking under the theme Working Together For National And Regional Development, Jones suggested that the Caribbean was in need of more targeted research – on specific topics such as plants, animals, politicians’ behaviour and the recession.
Jones said the only way to be better in the research efforts was through collective action and responsibility, and called on the private sector to do more. (MM)
