LIAT is carrying out maintenance checks on an aircraft that suffered a main wheel failure during take-off yesterday morning.
Flight LI 774, which  left Guyana bound for Barbados, landed safely  at Grantley Adams International Airport  with no injury to the  43 passengers.
In a statement   after the incident,  LIAT said: “The aircraft continued to the Grantley Adams International Airport where, as  a precautionary measure, emergency services were on standby. The landing was uneventful and the passengers disembarked at the gate in Barbados.”
LIAT suffered  a similar incident in December 2010 when  an aircraft bound for Puerto Rico from Antigua was forced to make  an emergency landing at  V.C. Bird International Airport after a wheel fell off shortly after take-off. (LK)
