DAVID SIMPSON is the new president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados (ICAB). He was elected at the institute’s annual general meeting on Thursday, succeeding Andrew Brathwaite who served in that position for two years.
Simpson is the founder and managing director of Prestige Accounting Inc., Prestige Limousine Services, and Kailyssa Investments Inc. He was admitted to the membership of the association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in December 2003 and became a fellow of the association in December 2008.
Simpson became a member of ICAB in April 2004, joining its council in 2005.
He has spent over 14 years in the audit and accounting fields, working with Brian F. Griffith & Co. Chartered Accountants and the Fair Trading Commission in Barbados prior to taking up full-time management of his businesses and pursuing his interests in entrepreneurship and small business.
Simpson has always demonstrated a passion for entrepreneurship and business ownership, especially in areas that would make a critical difference in the lives of others and contribute to personal, community and national development. His business interests currently span the education, retail and transportation sectors. He also currently serves as treasurer of the Small Business Association and is chairman of Small Business Venture Capital Inc.
