Quality bid

MILLIONS OF DOLLARS have been secured by Government to build a new secondary school in Christ Church, while a near $100-million loan is in the works to open Barbados Community College (BCC) and Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic (SJPP) campuses in St Lucy.
Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler made the announcements yesterday as he lamented the “less-than-stellar” quality of students coming out of the country’s highest institution of learning – the University of the West Indies (UWI).
Delivering the feature address at the St Lawrence Primary School graduation ceremony at Accra Beach Hotel, Sinckler said Government was looking at land east of Coverley, Christ Church, for the new secondary school.
The $30 million which will be used for that project and infrastructural improvements at 13 primary schools has come from the Caribbean Development Bank.
