ALTAR CALL: Jesus ‘holds the answer’

JESUS HAS the answer to every problem we may face in life and He knows what to do in every situation.
This statement by Minister Christopher Murray two Sundays ago reiterated biblical truths that “with God all things are possible” and “God is always in control”.
Murray’s message was not preached from the well decorated podium of a sanctuary, and his audience consisted primarily of young children.
The occasion was the Healing For The Soul Ministries Children of Inmates social evening and the Community Development Department’s/St Michael North-East Constituency Council’s Reading Programme graduation ceremony, which was sponsored by the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and Cave Shepherd. It was held at the Harold Nurse Community Centre in Jackman’s, St Michael.
In his brief message, Murray based his sermon on Jesus’ first miracle of turning water into wine while attending a wedding. Just as Jesus’ mother encouraged those at the wedding feast to do whatever He asked them to do, Murray urged his young listeners to always follow the good and wise instructions of adults.
Noting that “Jesus cares about our needs whether they are big or small”, he further said that “Jesus has the ability to turn things around in our lives and has the answer to every problem because He Himself   is the answer”.
As the little ones listened attentively, he also told them that as Jesus was invited to the wedding, they should invite Him into their hearts.
Murray stressed this first miracle of Jesus represented the miracle of salvation, as Jesus came not just to change water into wine while at the wedding feast, but to change hearts and lives.
“He came so we can have changed lives. He is the reason for the season we have just celebrated and He wants to change our lives, our hearts and our situations.
“He is capable of filling our lives with His presence, power and grace and we can do all things through Him who came to give us everlasting life,” he said.
During the evening, which was filled with fellowship, food and frolic, the little ones donned “fun clothing” and pierced the quiet of the evening with their colourful
“blow whistles”, while snacking on a variety of tasty treats. Each child also received a gift during a special presentation ceremony.
Ministry in song was rendered by Shaniece Thomas and Stefan Hope, and from the look of things, a good time was had by all.
