One of the region’s top anti-doping officials is calling for the setting up of a secretariat in Barbados to help in the fight against doping in sport.
Additionally, Chairman of the Caribbean Regional Anti-Doping Organization (RADO), Dr Adrian Lorde says it should also be funded by Government.
“What we really need is to have a local secretariat which is funded by the goverment.
“We do receive funds from goverment for our programmes, but we need to have a staff person dedicated to anti-doping work, such as making sure we are compliant with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and to see that we do the testing and education, and be a contact person.”
Lorde, who is also the chairman of the National Anti-Doping Commission (NADC) spoke to the WEEKEND SPORT shortly after attending a WADA press conference at the Barbados Olympic Association on Tuesday.
