The National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) will meet today to analyze new information on temporary workers as it prepares for the possibility of thousands of layoffs in the public sector.
Acting president Akanni McDowall told the WEEKEND NATION last night that during yesterday’s three-hour talks with the head of the Civil Service, the NUPW had received data on temporary officers.
“This is very much needed data that we had requested before, so going forward from here we can make an informed decision,” he said.
McDowall added that he could make no further comment since the union wanted to give Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler time to make any announcements on the issues. However, he said the union would continue to meet.
