BARBADIAN Ricardo Bentham and ten other outstanding New Yorkers were recently selected for special recognition.
Bentham became the recipient of the prestigious Man Of Distinction Award presented to him by The County City of New York.
In making the proclamation to Bentham, council member Leroy Comrie said: “Ricardo is an active and dynamic member of the board of directors of a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the financial independence of the south-west business community.”
The former resident of Culloden Road, St Michael, and student of Bay Primary School is the son of Rev Hal and Lucene Denny.
Bentham moved to the United States from Barbados at the age of 12. With a flair for academics, his next move was to pursue further studies.
The affable Barbadian entered Long Island University where he was awarded a BSc in finance.
His career path took him to Wall Street where he held positions at corporate America’s banking and financial firms, including Dean Witter Reynolds and Equitable Capital,
where he was employed as a senior accounts manager, managing special projects within the Mutual Fund department.
The current resident of Jamaica, Queens, New York, who brings more than 18 years in diverse tax financial and business consulting experience, said: “However, my pride and joy are my two daughters – Imani and Nina.”
