HILDA SKEENE PRIMARY SCHOOL is leading the charge in the preliminary stage of this year’s Scotiabank Junior Calypso Monarch competition.The St Philip school has three representatives and one reserve in the July 11 semi-finals of the 8-to-12 category. Parkinson and Springer Memorial secondary schools are close behind with three each. Queen’s College, Alexandra, Foundation and Westbury all have two singers in the mix, with one each from Harrison College, St George, Princess Margaret, Ursuline Convent, Coleridge & Parry, Lester Vaughan, Alleyne and the University of the West Indies.Members of the public can get their first glimpse of the juniors for the season on Sunday when the first tent is held at Solidarity House at 6 p.m. The semi-finalists in both categories are as follows:Eight to 12: Jazz Jazz Z Gittens, Myles Myles-Z Gittens, Ric-Anne Candy Princess Brathwaite, Rashad De Professor Weekes, Everika Lil T Clarke-Weekes, Terig Adonis Linton, Ranesha Confetti Cummins, Nicholas Nik Roach-Holder, Tyanna Sweet T Malcolm, Taryn Princess T Lynch, Jalani Enforcer Millar and Adonica AD Shepherd.
