Just another fete! This is what opposition parliamentarian Cynthia Forde has called the big youth forum set for Sheraton Mall, Christ Church, on Sunday. But Minister of Education, Stephen Lashley, dismissed the charge. He said the forum would highlight the significant contributions of young Barbadians and discuss national youth policy, with a view to getting it passed into law eventually.Lashley and Forde made the comments while contributing to debate on a resolution to give Bajan superstar Rihanna a plot of land at Apes Hill Development in St James.Forde questioned the bankrolling of the forum, saying it conflicted with Government’s emphasising the need to cut back its spending in all areas because of the tough economic times.“We keep saying this is a fete society, every minute there is a fete, a fete, and then for a fete to be taking place in Sheraton on Sunday, I would like to know the cost of that venture,” Forde said.
