Parents, guardians and visitors to the Erdiston Nursery School were given lessons by the little ones on various aspects of water, when the Government Hill institution held its Open Day last Friday.
As principal Angela Chaplain pointed out, the children were exposed to various sources and uses of water as well as the recreational uses and dangerous aspects of water.
The sections on display beautifully depicted all of the sources of water which the children were keen to describe.
One of the highlights was the “standpipe”, which was constructed in the class room and which thrilled the youngsters who would not have been accustomed to that once ever-present element of the Barbadian landscape.
While the emphasis was on the use of water and its value, some sections also detailed the dangers of water abuse and pollution; and even the adults were fascinated with the display chart which showed the percentage of water in various types of fruit. (KB)
