Nursing shift

FOR?THE first time in a very long time there are more Barbadian nurses than foreign nurses working at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).
Minister of Health Donville Inniss announced yesterday in the House of Assembly that there were 400 Barbadian nurses while only 90 non-national nurses were employed at the QEH.
This, he said, was a significant reduction from three years ago when as many as 200 foreign nurses were employed at the hospital.
“Under the former Government . . . you had up to 200 non-national nurses working at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Today we are at the stage where we have most of them being Barbadian,” Inniss said during his contribution to the debate on the Human Resource Strategy Bill 2011-2016.
