Breedy blow

Jabali Breedy’s promising boxing career could be on the ropes.

The three-time Caribbean Championships gold medallist will likely have to look beyond the Barbados Defence Force Sports Programme (BDFSP) after being charged with the unlawful and malicious wounding of another man earlier this week.

Captain Michael Jules explained that the 21-year-old Breedy probably won’t be eligible to enter the programme as the BDFSP typically doesn’t take in recruits with pending court cases or criminal convictions.

“I haven’t been briefed about the situation as yet, to be honest, but someone did inform me that they read about the matter in the papers and I can tell you if this is true then his situation won’t look good for the vetting committee and he probably will be barred from entering the programme,” said Jules, who has been in charge of the BDFSP since 2010.
