To mark this year’s International Day of Climate Action, the High Commission of Canada, the Future Centre Trust, Coral Reef Restoration Alliance (CORALL), the National Cultural Foundation, and the Youth Development Programmed have collaborated to offer a unique poetry competition to the public.

Poetry In Windows is a poetry competition for youth in Barbados between the ages of 10-17, with winning entries to be posted in shop windows for public viewing. The themes of the poems are centred on the environment and climate action and the competition aims to: a) increase students’ awareness of their surrounding ecology, b) improve students’ literacy skills, specifically in respect to creating poetry, and c) expose the public to students’ poetry about climate action.

From October 24, participating shopping complexes and stores will display the poems in their windows. (PR)
