Foreday morning continues to expand and there are 54 bands registered to hit the streets on August 1.
While this represents an increase of about ten bands, the final number fell short of the 70 officials at the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) said had been expressing interest.
Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley made the disclosure during his brief remarks at the Crop Over Preview held at Crop Over Central in the NCF car park on Friday night.
Despite all the changes, which forced the printing of a new calendar a few weeks ago, Lashley is still predicting that this 40th anniversary of Crop Over will be bigger than last year.
“Yes, we’re going to have a much bigger Crop Over 2014. We’ve been able to put before you many more events. I believe we’ve been able to grow the festival from, I believe we had 34 events last year, we’re having even more events this year,” Lashley said. (YB)
