New?West?Indies captain Denesh Ramdin said he was happy with the team’s workout at the Franklyn Stephenson Academy in St Thomas.
Ramdin told SUNSPORT he was pleased with how the team had come together for the intense training session in preparation for tomorrow’s three-day practice match against a local Combined X1.
“It is good that we get a feel of things in the middle and try to get the best balance going into the first Test match. the more cricket we get outdoor will be very important for us, rather than just hitting balls in the nets. You feel better when you hit balls in the middle and play against bowlers who are coming at you all the time,” he said.
Jerome Taylor has not played Test cricket in almost five years, not since the tour of Australia in 2009, and Ramdin acknowledged it was nice to have him back.
“Taylor is a good bowler and it is good to have him back in the squad. He has made his mark in the past and it is good to have him around,” said.
Ramdin said the players were looking forward to giving a good account of themselves for the opening Test against New Zealand, which starts in Jamaica on June 8.
“The boys are all pumped up. I am happy with the mood of the boys. Everyone is keen and supporting well.
“All of the boys have put in their work,” he said. (MK)
