Royal Fidelity continues its record of awarding the country’s top teachers through their annual nation building initiative, the Royal Fidelity National Distinguished Teachers’ Awards, established in 2010.

“We are calling on the public to nominate teachers who go above and beyond their mandate to our children in their care,” said Jillian Nunes, Royal Fidelity’s VP and Barbados Country Head. “Please take the time to nominate a teacher you feel is worthy of recognition.”

Nunes indicated that nominations would be open for three weeks. “Nominations are open from October 22 and must reach us by Sunday, November 11. All members of the community, school administrators, parents and students can nominate a teacher.”

A “Blue Ribbon Judging Panel” comprised of prominent and respected persons from the education field will choose the ten outstanding teachers who exemplify excellence from the expected hundreds of entries. The teachers selected will be awarded $2 000 each and the title Royal Fidelity National Distinguished Teacher, 2018.

“We do this every year as we believe strongly that great teachers inspire greatness in our children. We want to show teachers appreciation by honouring them with a nomination. We also give prizes and recognition to the school with the most nominations,” said Nunes. (PR)
