The Strictly Latin 2012 dance competition was all about panache and poise, flair and finesse, twists and turns, spins and swirls.
In a break from the competition, dance clubs across Barbados combined to put together a tribute to the late American actor and dancer Patrick Swayze of Dirty Dancing fame.
With the soundtrack from the movie and costumes dating back to the show, the dancers delivered a spectacular performance last Saturday night at the Wildey Gymnasium.
In Dirty Dancing, 17-year-old Frances Baby Houseman, on holiday with her family, becomes infatuated with the resort’s dance instructor, Johnny Castle. Swayze plays Johnny and actress Jennifer Grey Baby.
Mesmerized by the raunchy dance moves and the pounding rhythms, Baby learns some major lessons in life as well as a thing or two about dancing.
Here, Nicholas Small-Warner and Danielle Currency demonstrating Swayze’s famous lift at the end of the movie.
