Police officers guard the newly arrived drill that will be used in the rescue operation of 33 miners who are trapped at the San Jose Mine in Copiapo, Chile. The miners have been trapped deep underground in the copper and gold mine since it collapsed on August 5.
Hundreds of residents and family members of the miners turned up yesterday at the site and were in a celebratory mood, hoping the piece of equipment would save their loved ones.
