Thieves spoiling beauty

The National Conservation Commission (NCC) is begging thieves to stop stealing the plants being used to beautify various places in Barbados.
The NCC said yesterday lamented it was losing thousands of dollars in plants to thieves and vandals.
Thieves made their latest hit last weekend when 25 plants were stolen from the Montefiore Gardens, opposite the old Public Library, a stone’s throw from Central Police Station, Coleridge Street, The City.
“If people are willing to steal from under the nose of a police station, where else wouldn’t they steal from?” asked Senior field superintendent of the NCC Colin Forde.
“We’re therefore appealing to members of the public to desist from this practice. What the NCC is doing is all in an effort to beautify Barbados and Bridgetown, which is a historic area,” he told the MIDWEEK NATION.
