Welchman Hall St Thomas champs

Inspired by?an unbeaten century from opener Shanaldo Taylor, Steve’s Building Works Natural Heritage Welchman Hall Colts defeated fellow first-time finalists, Earthworks Melrose by 63 runs in the final of the St Thomas Cricket Competition last Sunday at the Bridgefield Playing Field.
Left-hander Taylor batted through the innings for 121 not out to earn the Man-Of-The-Match award. He was well supported by Diego Stuart with a quickfire 48 and captain Pedro Greaves, who made 38, in Welchman Hall’s total of 245 for five in 35 overs.
Melrose then suffered a middle order collapse after a 70-run opening stand between Steven Blackett (37) and Kevin Greene (32) and were dismissed for 183 in 30.2 overs to give Welchman Hall their first St Thomas title.
Off-spinner Rasheed Edwin made the initial breakthrough by bowling Blackett and went on to finish with three wickets for 32 runs as the only major resistance came from Marlon Graham, with 39.
Fast-medium bowler Kemar Small took three for 31.
