Rain and a malfunctioning light tower combined to produce a no-result Thursday night in the Windies Super 50 Cup fixture between Barbados Pride and the Leeward Islands Hurricanes at Kensington Oval.
Set a revised target of 140 off 29 overs after Barbados posted 181 for nine from 50 overs, the Hurricanes reached 37 for one-off 8.5 overs when the third rain interruption forced a premature end to the contest. Both teams will get two points.
When the final interruption came at 9:12 p.m., opener Chesney Hughes was unbeaten on 13 and Akeem Saunders not out on seven. The match was called off at 9.37pm.
A shower earlier in the innings had sent the players from the field for a short period but the most significant delay of just over two and a half hours was caused by the failure of the light tower at the southeastern end of the ground.
The Hurricanes were able to start their reply at 8.30pm after an additional generator was used in lighting the tower. (PH)
