Sour dairy deal

The ongoing dispute between the Pine Hill Dairy (PHD) and the island’s dairy farmers has deteriorated further.
Now one of the biggest farmers and landowners is insisting that the High Court will have to settle the dispute said to be destroying their businesses.
Sir Charles Williams, the founder of C.O. Williams Construction, made his intentions known yesterday when he confronted Richard Cozier, managing director and chief executive officer of Banks Holdings Limited, the parent company of PHD.
The challenge from Sir Charles came as he and Cozier were involved in a heated exchange yesterday on the radio call-in programme Down To Brass Tacks.
Sir Charles said he spent a large sum buying milk quotas from other farmers who were under financial pressure and as a result he should be compensated now that the PHD had cut the quota system. (GE)
