A full delegation from the Barbados Secondary Teachers’ Union (BSTU) will meet with Chief Personnel Officer Gail Atkins at her office on the corner of Culloden Road and Collymore Rock, St. Michael at 3:30 p.m. today.
The meeting follows a third piece of correspondence, which was dispatched to Atkins requesting such a meeting on Tuesday. The letter had threatened the likelihood of industrial action from next week if there was no response from Atkins by tomorrow.
Members of the BSTU are protesting the manner in which close to 40 teachers were transferred to and from Alexandra School just before the start of new school term. At least nine of the affected teachers are on certified sick leave and have yet to take up their new assignments.
Yesterday president Mary Redman would only say they were going to the meeting to seek a resolution to the problem. (YB)
