BARBADIAN CHILDREN ARE beginning to use marijuana from the tender age of nine, recent research is showing.
The revelation is causing the National Council on Substance Abuse (NCSA) to make plans to launch its parent education programme later this year.
The NCSA’s manager Yolande Forde spoke about the findings of the research at a Press conference the Ministry of Home Affairs, Webster’s Business Place, Wildey, St Michael, yesterday.
Indicating that she was unable to give further findings from the study which was not yet released, in a serious tone, Forde said that the early use of drugs among children was the driving force behind NCSA maintaining its aggressive and effective interventions in schools.
