Robber’s grenade causes airport scare

SAO PAULO – One of the international airport’s two terminals closed for several hours while police detonated a grenade left by a robber after he held up the parking lot attendant, authorities said yesterday.No one was hurt and no flights delayed, but the thief escaped.A man walked up to the airport parking lot’s payment booth late Sunday night and handed a note to the cashier telling her he would explode a bomb unless she gave him the money in the cash register, said a spokesman for the Sao Paulo Public Safety Department. He released the information on condition of anonymity under departmental regulations. (AP)
