There is something about Christmas, Easter and Kadooment that is resulting in the deaths of many Barbadian women.
The increased mortality has been linked to cardiovascular health problems, according to a senior official of the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Gina Pitts, the foundation’s chief executive officer, made the startling revelation about higher levels of cardiovascular disease in Barbadian women and deaths during those festive periods.
“Those were initial [findings] that came out of the Barbados National Registry and I think it’s a combination of stress from those days, consuming a heightened amount of rich food and it tends to be too much for everybody,” said Pitts.
